A marinara sauce is a basic tomato sauce. Use this as a dipping sauceĀ for your calamari fritti, and for topping all your seafood pasta dishes.
Marinara Sauce
Ingredients
- 4 large garlic cloves or 5 medium
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1/2 small onion chopped
- 28- oz. can tomatoes
- 2 tablespoons fresh basil leaves chopped
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley chopped
Instructions

Place garlic and olive oil in a saucepan over medium to medium high heat. Add onions. Cook for about 2 to 4 minutes until softened and fragrant.

Add in tomatoes and herbs. Bring to a soft boil, then reduce heat to a simmer. Cover, and let simmer for about 15 to 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
