A marinara sauce is a basic tomato sauce. Use this as a dipping sauceĀ for your calamari fritti, and for topping all your seafood pasta dishes.

Marinara Sauce
Ingredients
  • 4 large garlic cloves or 5 medium
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/2 small onion chopped
  • 28- oz. can tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons fresh basil leaves chopped
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley chopped
Instructions
  1. Place garlic and olive oil in a saucepan over medium to medium high heat. Add onions. Cook for about 2 to 4 minutes until softened and fragrant.
  2. Add in tomatoes and herbs. Bring to a soft boil, then reduce heat to a simmer. Cover, and let simmer for about 15 to 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
