Charleston Breakfast Shrimp with Grits
Ingredients
  • 3 tablespoons bacon drippings
  • 2 tablespoons chopped onion
  • 1 tablespoon chopped green pepper
  • 1 1/2 cups small shrimp shelled and deveined
  • 1 cup water
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons flour
  • Grits prepared, enough for 4 servings
Instructions
  1. Heat the bacon drippings in a saucepan, and add in the onions and green pepper. Cook until the onions are wilted, and then add in the shrimp. Cook until the shrimp has turned pink. Add in the water, salt and pepper, and simmer for 3 minutes.
  2. Combine the Worcestershire, ketchup and flour; add to the shrimp and blend well. Cook until thickened.
  3. Serve with grits.
