I made a commitment to the wahoo thing. No other fish on my mind.
I began at the eastern edge of the middle nine at 9 am. I then trolled south toward the Mexican border. Turning west, I trolled the border to the west edge, then followed the west edge up north. I passed a lot of patties in the area.
Got to the northern end around 1 pm, and found a kelp patty that just looked right. I made multiple passes around it. The far back x-wrap gets bit about 150 feet back behind the boat. A little scramble to clear the other lines then I started reeling.
Got him to the boat, gaff in, on the deck. Local Hoo, totally stoked. Awesome day on the water, awesome fish. Good stuff.
Water temps: 74

This wahoo was filleted up for some great eating. Wahoo makes killer fish tacos.
